Auburn, Georgia A Tale of Two Programs

So as we continue our way to the SEC we come to Auburn and the Georgia Bulldogs.  On the surface they seem very similar but that could be deceptive.

The Bulldog nation feels that they are stagnating and another 8 win season would just confirm that they are stuck in mediocrity.  Fans want to see a team that competes well, a team that should have beat Tennessee and at least show up when the Gators come to town.

Fans want to know what coach Richt is going to do about the Bulldogs knack for racking up penalties.   The Bulldogs have an SEC-high 85 penalties, which is 17 more than the next closest team. They’re averaging 77.3 penalty yards per game, which is nearly 20 yards more than the next most penalized team. That needs to change.

Now to Auburn, where there is hope in the air.  There is still a honeymoon period with new coach under first-year coach Gene Chizik. An eight-win season would go a long way to satisfying the boosters and fans alike.

A win against Georgia would boost morale and would help build confidence to deal with the Alabama finale.

So a tale of two programs: one brimming with hope, the other hoping to stay out of mediocrity-ville

burn.
